Find your purpose
“What’s my purpose?” is one of the most common questions I hear from clients, and one of the most anxiety-inducing. We tend to imagine purpose as a single grand calling that we either discover or miss. In reality, purpose is usually something we build, by paying attention to what gives us energy, what we value and where we can make a difference.
“Purpose isn’t found in a moment of revelation. It’s uncovered by listening to what already lights you up.”
One of the biggest obstacles to finding purpose is noise: other people’s expectations, comparison on social media, and the “shoulds” we absorbed growing up. Before you can hear your own direction, you need to quieten those voices. Reflection, journaling and guided hypnosis can all create the mental space to notice what you really want rather than what you think you’re supposed to want.
Following your energy
For the next two weeks, notice the moments when you lose track of time, feel genuinely curious or feel proud of something you’ve done. Write them down. Look for patterns: are you helping people, solving problems, creating, teaching or organising? These clues point to the values and strengths that a purposeful life is built around, and they’re often hiding in plain sight.
Taking the first step
Purpose becomes real through action, not just insight. Choose one small step that aligns with what you’ve discovered, whether that’s a conversation, a course, a volunteer role or a side project, and take it this month. If fear or self-doubt holds you back, NLP and hypnotherapy can help you work through those blocks so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
