What Can Hypnotherapy Help With?

One of the first questions people ask me is simply, “Can hypnotherapy help with my issue?” The honest answer is: often it can help, sometimes it’s one useful part of a bigger plan, and occasionally another kind of support would serve you better. Here’s how I think about it.

Habits and behaviors

Many habits run on autopilot, which is exactly where hypnosis can be useful. In a focused, relaxed state we can rehearse new responses until they start to feel natural. Common goals include:

  • Quitting smoking or vaping
  • Nail biting and other repetitive habits
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism), alongside care from your dentist
  • Healthier eating habits and weight management
  • Procrastination and motivation

Fears, anxiety and confidence

Hypnotherapy and NLP can help you change how you respond to a trigger, whether it’s a spider, a flight, a presentation or a social event. People also come to me for:

  • Fears and phobias
  • Social anxiety, shyness and blushing
  • Public speaking and performance nerves
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Exam and interview nerves

If anxiety is severe, constant or getting in the way of daily life, please also speak to your physician or a licensed mental-health professional. I’m happy to work alongside them.

Stress, sleep and wellbeing

Deep relaxation is one of the most immediate benefits people notice. Hypnosis and self-hypnosis can be helpful tools for:

  • Stress management
  • Winding down for better sleep
  • Coping with grief, guilt or anger
  • Concentration, study and learning

Physical health: a supporting role

Hypnosis has been studied as a complement to medical care in areas such as pain management, irritable bowel syndrome and anxiety around medical or dental procedures. In these situations my role is supportive: helping you relax, cope and feel more in control, while your physician leads your medical care. I don’t diagnose, and hypnotherapy doesn’t cure disease.

Similarly, hypnotherapy can be one helpful strand of addiction recovery, but it works best alongside medical and specialist support.

Goals and life direction

Not everyone comes with a problem. Many clients want clarity about career decisions, relationships, life planning or the next chapter. Here I combine coaching with hypnosis and NLP so you leave with both insight and a practical plan.

Not sure if it’s right for you?

That’s exactly what the first conversation is for. Tell me what’s going on, and I’ll give you an honest view of whether I can help, and if not, where you might look instead.

Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT are complementary approaches. They don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions and are not a substitute for medical care, so please also work with your physician on any health concern.

If you’d like to find out whether this approach is a good fit for you, I offer a free, no-pressure consultation. Get in touch here and we can talk it through.
